"The alcohol hangover is characterized by headache, tremulousness, nausea, diarrhea and fatigue combined with decreased occupational, cognitive, or visual-spatial performance. In the USA, related absenteeism and poor job performance cost $148 billion annually with an average cost/working adult of $2000. Although the hangover is associated with alcoholism, most of its cost is incurred by the light to moderate drinker. No evidence suggests that alleviation of hangover symptoms leads to further alcohol consumption, and the discomfort caused by such symptoms may do so. Therefore, treatment seems warranted. 54% of all alcohol-related problems in the workplace are caused by light drinkers, and 87% are caused by light to moderate drinkers." Comparative Study Between FIRST CALL™ and Placebo in Alcohol Related Liver Disease; Clinica CAPRA Hospital General, Mexico City December 12, 1998

Patients chosen for this study were those who had been diagnosed with chronic alcoholic liver disease caused by excessive ingestion of alcohol(excessive ingestion being defined as one to one and one half (1 ½) liters of tequila or brandy per day for extended periods of time). The study chosen was a randomized double blind placebo study in which neither the treating physicians in charge nor the patients knew to whom the real product or the placebo was administered. The treatment lasted 30 days and each patient took 3 capsules(420 mgs each), three times/day.

Results were measured before and after treatment, calculating the difference, and expressing these results as a percentage of recuperation.

Encephalopathy is a degenerative disease of the brain. A 66.08% reduction of encephalopathy was obtained in the experimental group. The placebo group? 12.24% increase of symptoms.

Splenomegaly is enlargement of the spleen. An 88.40% reduction in spleen enlargement was noted with the treated group. The placebo group worsened by 11.54%.

Hepatomegaly is enlargement of the liver. The treated group experienced a 93.33% reduction in enlarged livers. The placebo group's livers continued to enlarge by 7.14%.
